The Shift4Shop ecommerce platform is owned by Shift4 which is listed in the New York Stock Exchange under the name “Shit4 Payments” and ticker FOUR. At the time of updating this Shift4 Payments has a market valuation of more than $4.5 billion. Shift4 has a history going back more than 20 years and while the Shif4Shop ecommerce platform might seem quite new it is actually not: before it became Shift4Shop it was known as 3dCart. That platform was founded more than 20 years ago. So, all things put together Shift4Shop is my opinion legit. Open Shif4Shop account.
Caveats: While Shift4Shop is in my opinion legit, there are a couple of things that you might want to know regarding its “free” ecommerce plan before opening your account. 1) it is available only for US-based store owners and 2) you need to process at least $500/month in payments with Shift4 Payments to be able to use the plan for free.
